ABLE SOLAR LTD is a privately owned and operated company specializing in Renewable
Energy Systems utilizing Solar and Wind powered generating equipment,
storage batteries and control equipment. Able Solar was established
in October 1981 in Auckland, and we traded under the name of Able
Battery Company Ltd.
In the beginning our main business was the distribution of Lead Acid
batteries for many applications including Automotive, Industrial and
Recreational.
As the business grew a market emerged
for quality Deep Cycle Batteries for use in remote batches for lighting
and DC pumping, People started asking for a better battery for this
service. We purchased old bus battery manufacturing equipment from
Australia and as newer, more advanced equipment became available to
manufacturers, older equipment were available to us at very low costs.
The grid casting machines were too large for our small operation so
we just purchased the Grid Moulds and Hand Burning racks. We then
designed Hand machines to run the grid moulds and started manufacturing
Heavy Plate Deep Cycle Batteries (by hand) in small quantifies.
This operation proved very successful
- All our production was pre-sold in advance and sales exceeded production
very quickly. We commenced importing a range of batteries from a U.S
Battery Manufacturing Co in Corona USA to satisfy local demand for
this growing market. Solarex Solar Photovoltaic modules (which later
merged with BP Solar) were offered and as prices started to fall a
new exciting market emerged around New Zealand.
With expansion a decision was made to purchase a new facility in Waitakere
City where we could set up and grow the business. In October 1996
we opened our new building.
Our Mission is to supply High quality products
and service at affordable prices where possible. Our staff are committed
to this growing industry and we use Solar Power everyday in our
homes and at our office in Waitakere City.
